BA Grade/Risk: 50/Extreme.
Track Record: When the Reds drafted Serwinowski in the 15th round in 2022, they knew they were getting a projectable lefty who would need plenty of time to develop. He has steadily added velocity and improved his control since then, and he flashed some of the best stuff in the Florida State League in 2024. At his best, Serwinowski was unhittable. He threw an immaculate inning against Dunedin, striking out the side on nine pitches.
Scouting Report: Serwinowski now sits 93-95 mph and touches 97 with his four-seam fastball. It has slightly above-average carry, but it’s not a swing-and-miss pitch, at least as of yet. It sets up a plus 82-83 mph slider that has depth and sweep. Serwinowski has toyed with a bigger and slower curveball, but he threw it so infrequently as to make it nearly impossible to evaluate. As of yet, he doesn’t have a changeup, but in 2024, righties had just as much trouble with his two-pitch combo as lefthanded hitters.
The Future: Serwinowski has already made impressive strides, but there’s still a long way to go. There’s no reason to rush Serwinowski’s development, but he’ll need to find a changeup if he’s going to remain a starter for the long-term. Even if he can’t, a lefty with a plus fastball and a plus slider can make for a valuable reliever.

BA Grade: 45/High
Track Record: Serwinowski was viewed as a projectable lefty coming out of high school, but that’s a profile that doesn’t get drafted as often in a minor league system without short-season leagues. The Reds were willing to take that risk, and it began to pay off when his velocity jumped and transformed him into a very promising power-armed lefty.
Scouting Report: The Reds have focused on filling the minors with pitchers who make hitters sweat. Sometimes the sweat comes from 97-plus mph at the top of the zone. Sometimes it’s because some of these fireballers don’t always know where those pitches are going. Serwinowski fits that mold perfectly. He has plus stuff, including a 94-97 mph fastball that’s hard to pick up thanks to his funky delivery and the angle he creates more than the movement of the pitch. He has a sweepy breaking ball that has plus potential. He has toyed with a changeup, but it’s far from where it needs to be. His control is currently well below-average, but that should improve as he gets stronger and gains experience.
The Future: Serwinowski is both exceptionally promising and extremely unpolished. He fits the Reds’ love of raw pitchers with nasty stuff and lots of polish remaining. He will get a taste of the automated ball-strike system in Low-A Daytona in 2023.
