Drafted: Never Drafted
No freshman last year had a better 2024 season than Burress, who posted a gaudy .381/.512/.821 slash line with 15 doubles, 25 home runs, 67 RBIs and more walks (58) than strikeouts (37). However, he struggled that summer on the Cape and hit just .125/.282/.219 with four extra-base hits and 22 strikeouts across 64 at-bats. Burress more or less picked up right where he left off as a freshman and hit .333/.469/.693 with 23 doubles, 19 home runs, 65 RBIs and 53 walks to 42 strikeouts. Burress has an unorthodox setup in the box, but he has thunderous bat speed. On top of demonstrating an advanced feel for the barrel, Burress has a career overall chase rate of just 18%. He has shown the ability to drive the baseball to all fields and has had no issue getting to his power in-game. Burress is undersized, but his speed and athleticism translate well to center field, where he has a plus arm. He could slide over to a corner professionally. -
School: Georgia Tech Committed/Drafted: Never Drafted. Age At Draft: 21.6
Burress has been one of the most productive hitters in college baseball since his 2024 freshman season with Georgia Tech. He set the program’s freshman home run record with 25 and tacked on 19 more as a sophomore in 2025. In his first two seasons, Burress has hit .357/.490/.756 with 44 home runs, 38 doubles and more walks than strikeouts. At 5-foot-9, 180 pounds, Burress is undersized, but he packs a punch at the plate with great bat speed in the righthanded batter’s box. He has an unusual setup that features a big leg kick and swing that can get long, but he’s demonstrated plenty of contact ability while also largely staying inside the zone on his swing decisions. Burress has enough speed to give himself a chance to stick in center field—where all of his playing time with Georgia Tech has come—and he also has a strong arm if he needs to move to a corner. -

Age At Draft: 18.6
BA Grade:45/Extreme
Tools:Hit: 45. Power: 50. Run: 60. Field: 55. Arm: 60.
Burress is a small and stocky baseball rat with a 5-foot-9, 175-pound frame, plenty of tools and a strong track record of performance. Despite Burress’ compact frame, he takes big hacks at the plate and looks to do damage, with plenty of pull-side power and loud contact overall. Burress sets up with an open stance, with the barrel tipped down behind his back and a toe tap in his load to get back to an even stance before firing fast hands in a steep swing with intent for impact. Burress clobbers fastballs and generally has a solid understanding of the zone, though he will need to improve his pitch recognition and contact against secondaries once he starts seeing better pitching. He’s a definite plus runner who clocked a 6.51-second 60-yard-dash at East Coast Pro, and that speed could help him become an above-average defender in center field. He’s played both infield and outfield in high school, but his instincts, actions and arm slot fit better in the outfield now than they do at shortstop or second base. His actual arm strength is easily plus, and some scouts have put 70-grade evaluations on the tool. Because of his size and tools, he has earned some righthanded-hitting Drew Gilbert comps and is drawing draft interest among the top three rounds. Burress is committed to Georgia Tech.
