Aug. 1 is here, marking the starting date for college coaches to officially begin contacting players in the 2027 class.

It also means it’s time for Baseball America’s new rankings of the top 100 players in the 2027 class, a group of players who will be priority names for the top college programs in the country and for scouts as the 2027 MLB Draft gets closer.

While there are a handful of players on the list who already have college commitments made prior to NCAA rule changes limiting college coaches contacting players until Aug. 1, the majority of the top 100 players in the country remain uncommitted.

The No. 1 player in the country is Dylan Seward, a switch-hitting shortstop from California with a terrific blend of tools, skills and instincts in all facets of the game. Like most years for players at this stage, the top of the list is heavy on position players. But there is a significant amount of high-end pitching at the top of the 2027 class, too.

One player not on the list is Rocco Maniscalco, a switch-hitting shortstop from Alabama who had ranked as the No. 9 player in the class. He would have remained in the top 10, but he has reclassified and will now be a 2026.

Below, you can find the top 100 prospects in the 2027 class, featuring scouting reports on every player.

While the 2027 draft cycle doesn’t begin for another year, this point on the amateur calendar serves as an appropriate time to update our ranking of the top 50 college players for the class.

Since the first 2027 rankings were released in May, the college season has wrapped up and summer ball has come and gone. On top of star Florida sophomore Brendan Lawson ascending to the top spot, there was a fair amount of movement throughout the top 50.

Check out the full rankings below with updated reports for ever player.

With the MLB draft and summer ball circuit now in the rearview mirror, it’s time to update our ranking of the top 100 college draft prospects for 2026.

There are minimal adjustments at the top of the rankings since last month’s combined top 100, but there are a handful of new names inside the top 50 and plenty beyond that.

Topping the new list is UCLA shortstop Roch Cholowsky. The 20-year-old shortstop helped guide UCLA to the College World Series this season, slashed .353/.480/.710 with 23 home runs and took home BA’s College Player of the Year Award. With an advanced hit tool and plus defensive skills, Cholowsky has all the makings of a potential 1-1 pick.

Now that the 2025 MLB Draft is over, the 2026 high school class is in the spotlight for major league clubs. With the summer circuit underway, today we release our updated rankings of the top 200 players in the 2026 class.

The 2026 class is the best group of high school prospects since 2023, blending both high-end, impact talent with depth. The top two players in the class are a pair of shortstops in Grady Emerson (Texas commit) and Jacob Lombard, who is uncommitted. Both players look like potential early first-round picks.

How much can we know about a class one year out from the draft? Consider this from our ranking of the top 2025 high school players at this time last year:

  • Four of the top five players were first-round picks. The fifth—infielder Brady Ebel—went No. 32 overall.
  • Six of the top 10 players on the list were first-round picks.
  • Eleven of the top 15 players were day-one picks.
  • Excluding shortstop Steele Hall, who was in the 2026 class at the time, eight of 13 high school players who were first-round picks ranked among the top 13 players.

Certainly, there will be players who will be pop-up guys or move up the list as the 2026 draft nears, but the players at the top of the list are good bets to be early-round picks next year.

Among colleges, Tennessee leads the way with 16 commits ranked among the top 200 prospects, led by shortstop/righthander Cole Koeninger and righthander Gary Morse. Next with 14 commits in the top 200 is Vanderbilt, which leads all schools in both top 100 recruits (nine) and top five recruits (seven), displaying an exciting balance of both hitters and pitchers. Texas is right up there with a case for the best 2026 recruiting class in the country, boasting 13 recruits in the top 200, seven in the top 100 and four in the top 50. LSU has 11 commits in the top 200 players, while Stanford and Florida each have nine.

Below, you’ll find our latest ranking of the top prep prospects in the 2026 draft class with scouting reports on all 200 players.

The latest update to Baseball America’s ranking of the top 100 prospects for the 2026 MLB Draft is here. Our October update is an important one, as it folds in performances from the summer and early portions of the fall evaluation period.

UCLA shortstop Roch Cholowsky continues to hold the No. 1 spot as one of the best college shortstop prospects we’ve seen in years. Likewise, Texas high school shortstop Grady Emerson continues to rank second in the class and appears to be the clear leader in the prep ranks thanks to a polished hit tool and a solid toolset beyond it

While the 2026 class continues to be lauded for its impressive depth, current industry feedback seems less glowing than it was before the summer.

Many of the most athletic and toolsy players in the class come with real hit tool questions, and a number of the biggest upside high school bats didn’t answer those questions with only middling or disappointing summers. The exception in that demographic is California prep outfielder Blake Bowen, who has skyrocketed to the middle of the first round in our rankings and now boasts one of the more enticing hit/power combos in the class.

College hitters make up the bulk of the high-end first-round talent in the class. Standouts include up-the-middle players like LSU outfielder Derek Curiel, Alabama shortstop Justin Lebron, TCU outfielder Sawyer Strosnider and Virginia shortstop Eric Becker.

Pitching-wise, the crop of 2026 arms is strong on both fronts.

The college trio of Liam Peterson (Florida), Cameron Flukey (Coastal Carolina) and Jackson Flora (UC Santa Barbara) front a deep class of power arms and will each have a chance to push for college SP1 next spring.

While teams have become increasingly wary of taking high school pitchers in the first round, the 2026 class is rich on prep pitching talent. Lefthanders Gio Rojas and Carson Bolemon lead a deep group that includes five prep arms ranked inside the top 30.

Below, you’ll find the complete list of draft prospects featuring updated scouting reports for each player and college commitments for prep players. You can find all of our rankings here.

With the bulk of the 2024 showcase circuit behind us, it’s time to update our rankings of the top 100 high school players in the 2025 class.

The depth and top-end talent of the 2025 prep class remains strong, and there’s plenty of upside distributed through both the hitting and pitching ranks of the class. Shortstop Ethan Holliday continues to lead the prep class at No. 1 overall, though righthander Seth Hernandez, third baseman Xavier Neyens and lefthander/first baseman Kruz Schoolcraft aren’t too far behind.

2025 MLB Draft Big Board

Ranking the top 100 overall prospects in the 2025 MLB Draft class entering the fall.

LSU leads all colleges with 12 commits from the top 100 players in the class, including five players ranked among the top 30: SS Brady Ebel, OF Dean Moss, OF Quentin Young, RHP River Hamilton and C Omar Serna. Texas checks in next with eight commits, followed by Vanderbilt with seven and Wake Forest and Virginia both tied with five apiece.

Three players on the list remain uncommitted, led by former 2026 class member Kruz Schoolcraft, a 6-foot-8 two-way player with real upside as a pitcher and hitter who could easily go in the first round next summer.

California leads all states with 17 players—including four players from Corona High—followed by Texas with 11, Florida with seven, Georgia with six and both North Carolina and Mississippi with five.

Baseball America presents the final update to our top 500 draft prospect rankings before the start of the 2025 MLB Draft. These rankings are an attempt to capture the industry’s consensus on the talent of the 2025 draft class. The list is compiled in consultation with MLB scouts, front office executives, scouting directors, college coaches and other professional evaluators. Ben Badler, Mark Chiarelli, J.J. Cooper, Peter Flaherty, Tom Lipari, Bill Mitchell, Jacob Rudner and Carlos Collazo contributed to the reporting, writing and editing of the list and reports.

The 2025 draft class has been a puzzle for teams to figure out.

It’s a deep group, but one that lacks much separation at the very top of the class. In particular, scouts have lamented the quality of the highest-caliber college hitters in the class, which is typically a demographic every team is excited about with their earliest picks. That doesn’t mean the 2025 draft class is not strong—it’s simply not top-heavy in the least-risky demographic.

The high school hitting talent of the class stands out, led by Oklahoma shortstop Ethan Holliday, who boasts one of the loudest packages of hitting ability and power in the class. Other notable prep names include California righthander Seth Hernandez and Oklahoma shortstop Eli Willits, who round out the top three.

The top-end college arms are more impressive than their hitting peers. LSU lefthander Kade Anderson overtook a strong group of college arms by consistently putting together high-quality starts throughout the season. Behind him, it’s hard to separate a top-tier pitching group that also includes Florida State lefthander Jamie Arnold, Oklahoma righthander Kyson Witherspoon and Tennessee lefthander Liam Doyle

The college hitting crop is led by Oregon State shortstop Aiva Arquette, who is the lone college bat to rank inside the top 10.

Tennessee and LSU lead all colleges with 10 players ranked on the BA 500. On the high school side, Corona High in California leads all teams with four ranked players. The program has a chance to set the all-time record for highest high school duo and trio drafted.

Below, Baseball America subscribers can see full reports for the top 500 players in the class, as well as BA grades and tool grades for the top 200 players.

The Baseball America Top 100 Prospects rankings are our 36th edition of our flagship prospect ranking. We view this ranking as the culmination of all of our work all year, as we attempt to show how prospects are perceived by the industry right now, as well as project who will produce in the future.

This August installment will be our final major update to the Top 100 for the 2025 season.

To report the list, we have discussions with MLB scouts, coaches, analysts and front office officials. We also see players in person and utilize as much data as we can get our hands on. It also relies on all the reporting we did to produce our Top 30 Prospects rankings online, as well as the Baseball America Prospect Handbook.

Players are eligible if they have not exceeded 130 MLB at-bats, 50 innings pitched or 30 pitching appearances. Service time does not play a role in whether players are eligible for this ranking. Players who come to the U.S. as “foreign professionals” as defined by the MLB CBA are not eligible to be ranked.

Players in the Top 100 Prospects list are ranked for their long-term MLB impact, with allowances for the risk that they will fall short of that ceiling. The tools grades listed for each player are all future grades of what we project them to be in the best stretch of their big league careers.

With the Division I college baseball season returning, here are the Top 100 draft prospects in the college ranks in 2024.

This year’s class has less clear-cut consensus at the top to begin the year and features several candidates who could emerge as the potential No. 1 overall pick in the draft. That sets us up for a potentially very intriguing spring depending on how some of the top names fare.

LSU leads all schools with seven players ranked in the Top 100, headlined by star 3B Tommy White. Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and Tennessee are also well-represented on the list.
