Horn is a two-way player with experience on the mound and at shortstop. A lefthanded hitter who has quiet hands that he keeps inside the ball well, he shows big raw power during batting practice and can drive the ball for extra-base damage in games with more over-the-fence juice that should come as he continues adding strength to his projectable 6-foot-2 frame. It’s a low-effort swing that can get uphill at times, with periods early in the summer when he looked caught in between on breaking stuff, but he has typically been a strong offensive performer. An average runner, Horn has good body control in the infield. It’s a longer arm stroke for an shortstop with plus arm strength to play at either spot on the left side of the infield. As a pitcher, he’s an athletic righthander who throws strikes with a lively, tailing fastball that’s up to 94 mph. Horn’s changeup has good action and plays well off his fastball, diving and running away from lefties. There are times when he will slow his arm down, but when he maintains his arm speed, his changeup is a swing-and-miss pitch. Horn shows feel to spin a solid curveball for his age, as well. -

Horn is a legitimate two-way player with a quick arm that has led to 95 mph fastballs on the mound and a quick lefthanded bat as a hitter. He has a 6-foot-2, 200-pound frame and does a nice job keeping his hands inside the ball with impressive power during batting practice and solid extra-base power to the gaps in games. As he adds strength to his still-projectable frame, he should begin tapping into home run power with more frequency. He’s an average runner but has solid body control to go with a plus arm that should be able to keep him on the left side of the infield in some capacity. As a pitcher, Horn has a lively, tailing fastball that sits in the low 90s and touches 95. His go-to secondary is a changeup around 80 mph that plays nicely off the fastball and dives and runs away from lefthanded hitters. When he maintains his arm speed, it’s a solid swing-and-miss pitch. He also has a mid-70s curveball with spin in the 2,500 rpm range. Horn is a Stanford commit, which typically signals a difficult sign for pro teams even with talent that fits in the first three rounds.
