Sims has the look of a pitcher who could one day have a fastball at the top of the 20-80 scouting scale. He’s 6-foot-8 and still has a ton of space to fill out, with long, whippy arm speed to throw a fastball that’s already up to 100 mph. There’s potentially more velocity still in the tank, and he attacks hitters with downhill angle from his high slot without a ton of effort. Sims shows aptitude to spin an 83-87 mph slider at 2,300-2,600 rpm. The shape on the pitch varies, often showing hard, tight bite but flashing two-plane depth at times from his high slot. Sims has started to show more feel for an upper-80s changeup, though it’s primarily a fastball/slider attack. Nearly all extra long-limbed pitchers his age are still learning to sync up their deliveries to throw more strikes. Sims has made significant strides in that area, but there are still outings where his control has escaped him, so it’s an area of his game scouts will be monitoring closely as the draft gets closer. -
School: Prestonwood Christian Academy, Plano, Texas Committed/Drafted: Oklahoma. Age At Draft: 19.1
Sims has outlier size and arm talent as a 6-foot-8, 205-pound righthander who regularly sits in the mid 90s and has already touched 100 mph. He’s an exceptionally lanky, long-levered pitcher with lots more room to fill out with whippy arm speed and a high slot that creates a steep downhill angle. It’s perhaps odd to say of a high school pitcher already touching 100 mph, but there’s perhaps even more velocity still in the tank as he gets closer to physical maturity. Sims pairs the fastball with an 83-87 mph slider at 2,300-2,600 rpm. Sims has made significant strides in that area, but there are still outings where his control has escaped him, and he was erratic throughout the 2025 circuit. Sims is old for the class, will be 19 on draft day and is committed to Oklahoma.
