Mataczynski is a high-level athlete with an exciting blend of twitch, tools and fluidity. He’s a 6-foot-3, 190-pound shortstop and righthanded hitter and drew tons of scouting attention at Perfect Game’s WWBA World Championship in Jupiter, Fla., where he was one of the most significant up-arrow prospects at the event. Mataczynski’s swing is crude, but he has a chance to develop above-average power, and he does a nice job putting the barrel on the ball for impact contact. He’s a gifted runner and defender who could have plus tools on each of his speed, fielding and arm tools, and he impressed scouts with how he moved around the field. While his track record is more limited than some of his peers in the 2026 class, Mataczynski’s upside and athleticism gives him significant upside potential if he can make some swing refinements. He’s committed to Auburn.
