James has enticing quick-twitch athleticism and tools he’s learning to translate to skills. He’s a plus-plus runner, has an above-average arm from a lower slot and impressive bat speed to drive the ball for hard, quality contact without having to sell out his swing to generate that power. There’s a lot of rawness both at the plate and in the field for James, an aggressive hitter with a pull-heavy approach who will need to improve his plate discipline to make more frequent contact, but his athleticism and tools will have scouts following him closely leading up to the draft.
