  Skip Schumaker, who managed the Marlins from 2023-24, had an 11-year big league career. His son, Brody, has the instincts and baseball IQ that comes from growing up around the game. Schumaker is a high-contact hitter with a short, simple and level swing with some of the better bat-to-ball skills in the class. Schumaker trusts his hands and spreads line drives around the field with gap power. He’s a plus runner who should be able to handle the middle infield, whether it’s at shortstop or more likely second base long term given his arm strength.
